Sherman Hood
Personal Injury Lawyer
Assistant:
Sherman Willet Hood is a personal injury lawyer with a long-standing focus on serious bodily injury claims. His practice includes motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and sexual assault claims, with an emphasis on helping injured people pursue fair compensation after life-altering events.
Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Sherman completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Simon Fraser University in 1995 and earned his law degree from the University of Nottingham in England in 2000. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2002 and has spent his legal career working on complex injury claims.
Sherman’s background gives him a valuable perspective on both sides of the claims process. Early in his career, he worked as in-house counsel at the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. He then worked with two prominent insurance defence firms in Vancouver, where he represented the defence in more complex personal injury matters. Through this work, Sherman gained first-hand insight into how insurance companies evaluate claims, approach negotiations, and respond to injured parties.
Since 2015, Sherman has represented plaintiffs exclusively. He draws on his defence-side experience to identify potential challenges early, prepare strong cases, and advocate effectively for clients whose lives have been affected by injury, trauma, or negligence.
Sherman understands that personal injury claims are often stressful and unfamiliar for clients. His approach is practical, thorough, and focused on the client’s best interests. He works to ensure that clients are treated fairly and that the full impact of their injuries is properly considered.
Where a fair resolution cannot be reached with the insurance company, Sherman is ready to take a case to trial. He has served as lead counsel in several complex personal injury trials in the British Columbia Supreme Court and has achieved favourable results for his clients, including in Hanger v. Shin, 2019 BCSC 99, Konnert v. Buonassisi, 2019 BCSC 1648, and Knight v. Zenone, 2022 BCSC 99.
Since joining Preszler Injury Lawyers, Sherman continues to bring strong litigation experience, insurance industry insight, and determined advocacy to his work on behalf of injured clients.
When he is not practising law, Sherman enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He is also a dedicated fan of the New York Mets, San Francisco 49ers, and Philadelphia Flyers, and enjoys time away at his remote property in Northern Ontario.
