Joel grew up in London, Ontario, and attended McMaster University before moving out west and completing his Bachelor of Commerce in accounting at MacEwan University. After deciding being an accountant wasn’t for him, he then attended law school at Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba before transferring to the University of Alberta and graduating there with his Juris Doctor.

Early in his career, Joel worked in a general practice firm and gained experience in the areas of real estate, wills, family law, and criminal law. He has successfully appeared before numerous courts and run Family law trials and Child Protection trials throughout the province. Eventually, he followed his passion and pursued a career in civil litigation.

Prior to joining Preszler Injury Lawyers, Joel spent 2.5 years practising at another nationally recognized personal injury firm, where he gained valuable expertise in managing personal injury claims ranging from car accidents to dog bites and burn cases. Joel is passionate about getting the best possible outcomes for his clients, who can expect a lawyer who cares about the client as an individual, who is invested in helping them on their road to recovery, and who is dedicated to securing them a full and fair resolution to their claim.

Outside of the office, Joel spends time with his partner and family, playing board games or talking about current events. After work, he might be found watering his plants, caring for his cat, or participating in the Calgary community theatre scene, where he has starred in several productions over the last few years.
